Dr. Mark Cohen treated thousands of patients for periodontal (gum) disease, which causes gums to recede and eats away at the jawbone. Patients are genuinely amazed when they see their unsightly roots covered by health gum tissue. Dr. Cohen has placed over 6,000 dental implants in his tenure.
Dr. Cohen is a pioneer in using laser periodontal therapy in conjunction with biologics (healing proteins), which eliminate bacterial infection in the gums and help them to be reattached to the roots and the jawbone. He has lectured on these topics at dental associations nationwide and has been an expert witness in significant legal cases involving periodontal disease.
Dr. Cohen is also a certified Wilkodontics specialist, trained to assist an Orthodontist in making rapid progress in adapting braces to changes in teeth alignment so that treatment can be completed in 3-8 months, rather than the standard 12-23 months. This method also builds up bone and gum for support. His motto for this process is “3x faster braces and 3x stronger teeth.”
Dr. Cohen received his undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Emory. He did his residency in the Department of Periodontics at the U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry.
Dr. Cohen served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force at the McChord AFB near Tacoma, WA. and also served as a scoutmaster for Boy Scouts who are mentally challenged.
Dr. Cohen had a private practice as a specialist in cosmetic dentistry in Tel Aviv, Israel, where he also lectured at the local dental school.
He loves to listen to live and recorded music, enthusiastically follows a fitness and diet program, and has “one beautiful daughter, Amanda, who makes life sweeter and challenging.”
